I have just connected to my sa tivo. It has 2 120 gig hds. I ftpd tserver_mfs6 and NowShowing.tcl into the /var/utils
directory. I then telneted into that directory and chmod 777 both files. My problem occurs after I get the now showing list. When I select a"file" and click get it responds with
Name = 'd:\capture\X-Men- Evolution-Retreat'
fsIDs = '2328824/2328826/2328827'
Tivo Address = '192.168.0.37'
Connected...
it than pauses and rplys with this message
Data socket connect failed!
.
the tserver shows we got a message!
=tystrm2 169.254.135.3 and then the fsids proceede by 1197. what do I need to do to correct my problem????

I had the same problem last night . Go to options>networking and select single socket. Mine started working after that.
I think it is machine specific as I used a second machine and it worked fine with the defaults.
After that it downloaded 100% but then the &^%* program trucated the file and gave me an error message about chunks. I saw many others with the same problem but no fixes in site. If you do run into this and find a fix please reply back.
Thanks and good luck,
Fletch

That worked for me, my laptop was working fine but my desktop had the problem. I changed the network setting on my desktop and it works fine now.
Thanks

Now see if you can get it to do anything useful.
I tried downloading another show , this time using tystream mode instead of the default mulplex. It will sucessfully download the file without trucating it but when I try to process it i still get that chunking error. The instuctions I have don't say what to do if it doesn' work other than trying another nowshowing file. If you get the software to actually work (ie so you can watch the show from your pc) please let me knowwhat you did to get it to work. I have a few old tv shows that have not been seen in 30 years so i am trying to save them for keeps.
Good luck!!!

You have more than 1 ethernet address on that machine. Either a modem, cable modem or a DSL is in the machine. Or perhaps an NT/2k/XP aliased interface.
Basically TyTool was finding and using the wrong IP address for the local client PC. Upgrade to the latest version (8r2 at this time) and use the new networking options and try the ones that become available. One will work.
