OK, I've been making TyDVD's for a while now with many different tools. Now I have a new problem.

My sister's DVD player doesn't properly play 480x480 content, even with headers patched. The result is 2/3 squeezed picture and 1/3 black box.

It is obvious if I want to play anything on her DVD player, I have to break the golden rule and transcode to 720x480.

I'm looking for advice from others that have done this already. I've tried various different things, all without success. My two main problems are Audio Sync and Image Quality (bandwidth). While it's easy to get over 4hrs on a TyDVD, I've only had decent quality when I raise the bandwidth sufficiently (Variable, two pass, high quality). This usually limits a DVD to two hours.

I'm getting there, when I get things to work, I'll follow up here and let you know what I did.... however, if anyone has some pointers to save me some time, please don't be shy.

birthday present?

maybe cheaper to get a $50 player that can play tyDVDs than all the hours you need to create DVDs to play in that player, well those DVDs must play in all players.

I don't know if there is a software encoder that can preserver the quality from the original Dtivo file with the same final size, but remember is easier to go down to 352x480 than up to 720x480 (quality/size), and because is half the resolution maybe you can end with four hours instead of two.
