I purchased a new TIVO series 2 box and moved my lifetime subscription to that unit during the offer period.

Now my old SONY is putting up a message that I haven't made a call in over 30 days. Is there a way I can use the old TIVO just as a recording device without a subscription?

If so, what do I need to do to make it happen?

Thank you,
Rob

You'd need a nophone script that would allow you to use the Sony without a phone line. If it's an older SAT-T60 DTivo then you can install 2.5Xtreme and one of the upgrades to 2.5.2 or 3.1. If it's a standalone model, and I suspect it is since DTivos no longer have lifetime subs, you may be able to operate it without a phone connection by installing the fixup02.tcl script or something similar. There have been numerous posts on this topic but I'm unsure what the resolution is since I don't have a SA Tivo. This will prevent your Tivo from dialing out and allow it to be used as a manual recording device. However, since a SA Tivo gets it's guide data from the phone line you won't have any guide data on the Tivo.
