Since my SA Sony unit died and I switched to a Tivo SA Series 2 I've had a lot of issues - I think the Sony was a much better unit.
Anyway, the issue that still bugs me and has become more of a problem is that the audio output of the S2 is *WAY* quieter than the S1 was. Going into my reciever I have to crank the volume at least a 1/4 turn more than I did with the S1. It's so bad that I think I might damage speakers if I forget to put it back down when switching to another source.
I also use the RF signal out of the Tivo to feed to a TV upstairs. Now that summer is here and we have a fan on in the room upstairs this has become useless because even with the fan on it's lowest speed and the TV volume cranked to it's maximum, the sound from Tivo cannot be heard over a fan.
Someone told me that the European Tivos have an audio level adjustment as part of a SCART output menu, but as far as I can see there's no adjustment like that in the US S2. Is it hidden somewhere..?? I've even popped the cover off to see if there are and gain potentiometers on the main PCB but there aren't. I'm sure all the sound is handled by a DSP chip, so there must be some way to adjust it electronically.
PLEASE... can anyone help me..???
