I have a Hughes GXECBOT receiver for sale.

It was in perfect working condition until today when I powered up the unit I received a green error message that states.

An error has occured. Please leave the receiver plugged in and connected to a phone line for the next 24 hours while the receiver attempts to repair itself. Do NOT unplug or restart the receiver. If, after 24 hours, the recorder does not restart itself, call Customer Support.

I haven't used the unit much in the last month and I can't imagine why this error would come up.

It's a HUGHES GXECBOT receiver with an upgraded 85 hour drive. Unit comes with a dual tuners, the cables, manuals, the only thing it doesn't have is an access card, satellite dish or original box.

I won't accept a trade offer. I need money for it.

PM me if you are interested.

(GSOD)

I'd let the thing run on GSOD for at least 36 hours; I've seen some come back after more than 24.

90% plus likely it's the hard drive. If you have a disk utility bootable from a floppy for the drive you can attempt a repair after reinstalling it in your pc. Though many drives will work again after such repair, I would have to say a lot of them go GSOD again fairly soon.

If you do a total OS reinstall on the drive is is _very_ likely that your DTivo will work fine.

If, after trying this stuff, it still doesn't work, I'd be interested in buying it, but I'd encourage you to try to salvage it first.

Will,

Thanks for the response. The only problem is I don't have the knowledge to fix it.

I'm trying to get ahold of the guy I bought it off of a month ago.

The green screen is now gone, it's now continually cycling through the welcome screens. First it says welcome starting up, then it goes to the just a few more minutes then it cycles to updating database this will take a while, then it goes back to the welcome screen and repeats the process.
