I just upgraded to xtreme2.5.2. Before I ask my question I would just like to thank all who have put so much time into getting these files and info up onto the web for our disposal. They are very self-explanatory; job well-done! Moving on, I am now trying to extract the files to record onto DVD. I installed the TurboNet Card, activated telnet, ftp, and tivoweb all in xtreme 2.5.2 and can't seem to ping or telnet to the unit. The led is blinking and the rj45 cable is brand new, store bought. Any suggestions on how to get this working. The card was installed properly, it is pushed in all the way. I am using an SAT-T60. Any help is appreciated.

If you have a direct connection between the Tivo and the PC you need a crossover cable. If you're going through a router, switch, or hub then a regular CAT-5 cable is required for each connection. Did you reboot the DTivo after setting up the xPlusz commands? Many of them don't take affect until after a reboot.

Are you using DHCP or have you set a fixed IP to your Tivo? Do you have a DHCP server if you're using that?

I am connected through a router, which has DHCP on it, so it should assign the TiVo an IP address automatically. How do I find out for sure what the IP address is? 192.168.1.200 is not working, could it be somethnig different?

Yes, I tried rebooting the TiVo a few times.

I guess that I'll take a stab at this, even though I am no expert. What kind of a router do you have? I have a Linksys router, and they way that I found the IP address it assigned to my DTivo was by going into the router configuration screen, and checking the clients table.
I hope that this helps. My guess is that 192.168.1.200 is not the same address that your router assigned to your Tivo.

I believe by default, a Linksys router's DHCP table starts at 192.168.1.100

I have a NetGear RT314. That is what I am thinking, the IP address the router assigned is something other than 192.168.1.200

I tried calling NetGear and they said that there is no way to tell what IP addresses the router assigns. The only way is to check from each unit hooked up to the router. Does the TiVo have to be on in order to communicate with it?

I'm not familiar with the RT314, but I am sure that you should be able to check the routing table. Check your documentation that came with the router, or check their website for more information. Sorry I couldn't be of more help.
If your Tivo is plugged in, then it is on. It is basically on all of the time, regardless of whether or not the green light is on. I am pretty sure that you can hard code the IP address for Tivo, but I don't know how to do it.

Yes.
re run the nic_install program, and you can specify the IP address as static, and also I would change the mac address just slightly, because if you get more than one tivo (as I found out) on the same network, they tend to fall off the network all the time, since they were built with the same CD (nic install) - that assigned the same mac address.
You specify the gateway there too etc..
The RT314 has a web module that you use, and by default it's 192.168.0.1 username admin, password either admin or password, and then you can go to Attached Devices, and match the MAC add that is on your tivo in the table to the IP that it handed out.
And the lease time that it has... usualy 6-7 days.

Use Advanced IP Scanner (http://www.radmin.com/download/) to find all your IPs on your network. There's probably tons of other programs out there too, but this one is pretty small.
The IPSCAN12.ZIP seems to contain both versions 1.2 and 1.3.
Or try an evaluation of IP Network Browser (http://www.solarwinds.net/Tools/Network_Discovery/IP_Network_Browser_PE/index.htm).
Or Ping War 2.0 (http://www.digilextechnologies.com/pingwar.html)
go to bash and type ifconfig. Can you telnet into your tivo?
