I have a Philips DSR7000 and I want to replace the 40 GB hard drive with at least a 120 GB hard drive. Will any 120 GB hard drive work with this unit, or do I need to buy one in particular?
Thanks for your help,

A 5400rpm 120 gig hard drive is your best bet. It will put out less heat and noise. But a 7200rpm drive will do just as good.
Also, it doesn't matter what the cache is. You'll see alot of the newer ones with 8mb but that is overkill for tivo.

Thanks for the info. So it doesn't matter if its Seagate, Western Digital, or Maxtor?

Seagate Barracuda V series is by far the quietest. Make sure it has the Fluid Drive Bearings. Like this one... Barracuda ATA V - ST3120024A. These 7200 rpm models run very cool, also.
