Hmm.

There is the command through the blaster to control the VCR to record when you want to archive to tape. However, is there anything out there that would allow the vcr to be sent a PLAY command at a given point, so you could cue up the tape where you want it, give the command at the tivo point and have a very good clean dub into the tivo for archiving in tivo format or ripping out and making a nice dvd.

???

Just thinking outloud.

You could probably set up a macro command on a learning remote to do what you want. I haven't used a SA Tivo in ages but I seem to remember that you have to acknowledge a record command by confirming it in a secondary screen after pressing record. If this is the case then you'd have to cue up the tape in the VCR and then press the record button for the Tivo followed by the select button to confirm the command and also press play on the VCR. I'd set up a macro command to do it in just that order, with a delay between pressing the record and select buttons on the Tivo since the menu may take a second or two to come up.
