This tool will allow you to verify and recalculate the checksum of the UTV kernel image.

Steps to modify or verify the checksum of your UTV kernel image:

1. 16-bit swap the entire image (if you did this properly, the first four bytes of the image should be: 00 04 00 10).
2. Run the checksum app.
3. 16-bit swap the entire image.

Now your new image is ready to be loaded onto your UTV hard disk.

To use the app:

UTVChecksum.exe [nk image] [version]

Where [version] is either 3.5 or 3.7.

There is no need to specify the version of your image anymore.

The app will read the length of the checksum range from the rom header structs.

Sorry to ask what might be considered by many to be a stupid question but can someone explain to me the usage of the UTV Checksum Calculation Tool.

What for instance is the "nk" part of the command and do I use the brackets. I can't get it to work but it's just something lame I'm doing wrong I think.

Thanks

NOT sure about this but it sounds like what I need. I have a copy of a UTV OS that I can not get to work when copied to my UTV disk. Is this tool supposed to verify that all's in the right place? How do I use it? I will grately appreciate any assist you can offer. AZBill

I did not use it after all. I just applied my 3.5 image to a 120gig drive and it works just fine.
