View Full Version : Restart are Reset System doesn't do anything ("Demo mode?")

I have an HDVR2 running 31u5. I started from a clean 31u5 image.

When I go to the "Restart or Rest System" it flashes a brief screen that says "Tivo Demo Mode" and then goes back to the messages and setup menu (not the reset option).

Everything else seems to work ok includingn bash, fixsub31, and other unmentionable fixes. Whenever I go to restart or reset system I get a "Demo mode" message. Is this normal? I've searched the thread and found nothing. Any advice would be greatly apreciated. I hate putting the cover back on this without it being perfect!

As a side note, I don't have a serial cable to connect to the tivo. (I solder as specified in other threads, but still can't the bloody thing to echo chars when shorted, or connect to the TIVO) I've done all these fixes by taking HD out, and putting it in another box then editing files.

How do I get the demo message to go away?!

remove the access card and redo the image. the access card can cause the unit to go into demo mode if it has been tampered with. if it starts going into demo mode after inserting the card, then you know your problem. if it is the card, you will have to find somewhere else to figure out how to fix it.

Thanks. That helped quite a bit.
