Wow....what an amazing forum!!! I've been reading as a lurker for a couple of days now, and the information here is probably the best I've read anywhere about hacking my DirecTiVo!!!
Thanks in advance guys!!!
OK....so with all that in mind, here's my question. Where do I start??? *lol*
I currently have a Series 1 Phillips DirecTiVo that I upgraded over a year ago to hold about 108 hours. I'm pretty familiar with the inner workings of most TiVos because I've made it a hobby to upgrade them for all my friends. I'm ready to take it to the next level and get ftp, telnet, and TiVoWeb installed, but I also want to work on program extraction. 108 hours seemed like a lot, till I started saving whole seasons of The Sopranos...much to my wife's chagrin. ;) I'd ultimately not only archive the programs I want to save to DVD, but move them back and forth from an offline storage drive to the TiVo to watch programs at a later time, for ones I want to keep, but not burn to DVD.
So....the main reason I'm coming here and starting a new thread is that I'm a bit confused as to what's the latest and greatest way to achieve these goals on my particular brand box. Do you guys have any suggestions of where to look for the basics on how to do what I want to do?
Again, sorry for posting this, and sounding like a total moron, but as I said earlier, this forum is GREAT and I just want to make sure I do the right thing here and not miss a step in a later posting that could screw the pooch for me.
Thanks again!
