Has anyone heard or read anything about overclocking the HDVR2?
I asume since it has a regular MIPS processor, it can be done. Since they come from the factory with nothing more than a heatsink on the CPU (or is that the chipset?), putting a big beefy athlon cooling fan would keep it plenty cool. Anyone have thoughts on this?

You've probably already seen this, but it is supposed to speed up the guide. I believe it's still in beta and impossible to get right now, but anyway....

When it does become available it won't be cheap, it's $70 plus a stick of 512MB SDRAM.
Supposedly it's not for use with S2's but I'm guessing that's only because S2's weren't hackable (as far as I know) when this thing first went into development.

Mine is a series 2... Maybe the boards don't fit on series 2 motherboards?

If I understand these things correctly, they don't attach to the motherboard, just IDE cable. If you can get it in the box somewhere and still hookup the cables you should be fine. Of course all of my comments are PURE speculation, I've never seen or used one before. And again, they are still in development, so it might even change over time.

The cachecards require software support, which may look very different in the S2 (at some level) because it uses a 2.4 kernel and a different IDE driver.
The earlier Series2 units ran the system clock at 200 Mhz. There may be a way to change your HDVR2 to use the quicker speed.
