Hi everyone, don't know if this belongs in the extraction forum or the hacks forum, but here goes.
I am having a problem with my Turbonet connection. Inititally I could telenet in for a bash prompt, but when I would run tytool v7 I could not extract. Tytool would just sit and tserver_mfs6 would not display "we got a message". The NowShowing list would populate fine. Just the extraction part would not work.
Now I have mucked around with the NIC stuff, replaced the ax88796.o file (did not work), ran nic_config_tivo (got a error "detecting existing installation"), put the original ax88796.o file back and now get "connection refused" in teraterm.
I can ping the DTivo box. The OS is 2.5.2 (extreme2.5 upgraded to 2.5.2 via SuperZaps upgrade)
I am hoping someone can steer me in the correct direction on this.
Thanks much !

This is probably a dumb question but are you manually initiating tserver_mfs6 via telnet prior to running TyTool? I'm not even sure if you'd get a NowShowing list if you didn't since I've never actually tried it. It seems to me that you'd get some kind of failure message without running tserver_mfs6 but I'm not sure what else to suggest.

Hi Captain,
Yes, I am starting tserver_mfs6. Then start tytoolv7, hit refresh, get the NowShowing list, tserver_mfs6 shows "we got a message" and NowShowing populates in tytoolv7. Highlight show to extract, hit get and then I get exporting fsid but no throughput.
The programs are not hung on the PC but my bash prompt gets killed on the DTivo (can still get bash via serial connection). Only a reboot gets the bash back.
I hope that I am not looking at a reinstall of extreme and SuperZaps 2.5.2 upgrade.
Thanks

Hello,
I have also recently added TurboNet to my Philips DTiVo DSR6000, and am experiencing difficulties extracting video. I am able to FTP and Telnet into the TiVo, but cannot connect with TyTools. When I try to connect with TyTools, all I get is a message telling me...
"Reading list from the server...
Clear Now Showing List...
Connecting to '192.168.1.102'
Connected...
Getting NowShowing data...
Sorry.. Could not obtain the list."
I have followed the instructions and still no luck...I have attached a screen scrap of the telnet window.
By the way...
The TiVo is connected to my LAN with a Linksys Router.
Any help would be much appreciated.

JaZone,
More than likely your problem is caused by a corrupted NowShowing.tcl file. Try some of the different ones around here.
Now if someone could only help me with my weird Turbonet/Tytool problem. I have checked/replace cables, reseated Turbonet card and replaced the NowShowing.tcl and tserver_mfs6 files.
I can telenet in, run stuff like joe, edit files, open files and ping both from the DTivo and from a PC to the DTivo. I can get the NowShowing list populated in TyTool but it stalls on the extraction part.
Can the Turbonet driver be uninstalled than reinstalled ? I have tried replacing the driver file, but that just breaks it totally.
Anyone before I take the drastic step of reloading extreme and SuperZaps 2.5.2 upgrade ?
Please, I am begging:)

You have to do a search for the driver files. I think SZ is using driver files that were patched to be non-standard (net0 vs eth0).
Kill the FTP Daemon, configure your PC to 100 full (NOT AUTO).
Try turning off your AV and firewall programs. Shut everything off. Power on your router first, then PC and finallly Tivo.

Thanks Newbie, but no go. Interesting thing is that reconfiguring my PC NIC from AutoNegotiation to 100 Full would not kill my Bash Prompt when I exited TyTool. Tried Half duplex but it would kill my Bash Prompt.
New message from tserver_mfs6 is #1 failed to write to stdout.
Tried replacing the DTivo NIC driver, no go. Tried following instructions from Tivo Community Forums to install the driver. Got the "no valid installation message", which I guess means you need to do a manual install or something from a PC.
This behavior also happens on 2 different PC's so I am pretty sure that it is something to do with the DTivo NIC. Damn thing was working fine for months. Had to go out of town, turned the DTivo off for 4 days, got home rebooted and this problem. I would try Tivo Community, but with their myoptic vision of the world of extraction figured any post would get deleted.
Oh well, guess I need to refresh my DTivo re-imaging skills.
Thanks

Have you checked to see that you have the file on your PC that tytools is going to extract into. If the file's not there, you can't extract.

Kingshead,
I checked your error messages against my NowShowing.tcl and found that the line:
set defrecquality [dbobj $setup get RecordQuality]
is hashed out on my file:
# set defrecquality [dbobj $setup get RecordQuality]
(I beleive that's the equivalent of commenting it out.)
Don't know why, but I know I didn't do it myself. Might be worth a try unless you know that you need it for your setup. Mines SA w/3.01 software. But I don't have the problems you're having.

Thanks Guys,
Took the step of re-imaging. Just could not figure it out and was banging my head againist the wall.
I re-imaged with 25 Extreme and did SuperZap's 3.1 upgrade to give it a test run. Got everything working with 3.1 (HU, NOPHONE & NOSCRAMBLE) and guess what; SAME DAMN PROBLEM. I can telenet in run stuff, rename files, delete files, edit files with Joe, ping my LAN from the DTivo, ping the DTivo from my LAN; I Just Can Not Extract with TyTool. I start tyserver, can get the NowShowing list, but when I go to extract it just stalls (and usually kills the Bash in the telenet session forcing a reboot). The name of the show that I try to extract gets written to the PC harddrive in the extraction directory but it never extracts.
When the DTivo first reboots and I telenet in I get "Connection Refused". After it sits for a while then I can get in. This is very weird. At this point I am suspecting the actual TurboNet Card as my other DTivo works fine with my network and the 2 PC's I use to extract with. I just can not see it as being a problem with anything exterior to the DTivo.
Guess my next step is ordering a new TurboNet Card as that is the only thing that I can come up with.
Also, with v3.1 of the Tivo Software I have heard that you have to reboot every coupla days because some of the scripts stop running automatically. Is this still true ?
Thanks !
