Anyone have a patch to force a Series 2 to update from the U5 OS without the telephone line being present?

Reread your subject.

You may be able to get your unit to process the 3.1 update from the stream by running a slightly modified version of sc.tcl.

You might want to paste excerpts from your /var/log/svclog and svclog.upload here if you see anything interesting (like slices) coming down. I have not seen them for quite a while.
