guys I have one of those triple LNB dishes and a Directivo Phillips 6000 unit. I know the the unit is not HDTV but shouldn't it still be displaying the HDTV channels, i.e 509 HBOH and a few others.

Nope. Even if you could change to that channel, the DTivo wouldn't know how to display the picture.

Tivo/DTV has issued a press release that they will be introducing an HDTV Tivo sometime in the near future. I don't remember the exact release date but I think it's supposed to be out sometime in the next 12 months. I know there are numerous posts on the topic at the Tivo Community Forum so you might want to look there for details.
