Something strange took place yesterday. All DirecTivo and 6th generation receivers in the country I live (outside the US) went down. I have done a rebuild of the system to 2.52 and still have the same issue. This must be a directv satellite transponder issue. Anyone willing to test this out for me or have me do tests for a fix, let me know.

Lost in paradise with NO tivo.............

To give you all some more information on this issue:

I rebooted my T60 box last night and that is when I noticed this. Called other people that I know have a tivo (any model) and they have the same issue. The tivo box seems to get its information from a certain transponder (not sure which) and it seems that this transponder has been changed or moved to a spot beam that is not available in my area but still available in the US. I could be wrong about this (and I hope I am).

Another option:
It could be an udpate to the tivo OS was send down the feed and the boxes did not take the update telling it to change to another transponder for the guide data.

Anyone with the know how to look into this, please post your replies so we can get the boxes back up and running. About the 6th generation receivers being down, this falls in the same category as option 1.

Try rebooting your boxes and see if all works fine. We are getting stuck at 26% acquiring guide data.

Yes, something has gone wrong.

Whether a change in the beam or some change in that the software versions that are known to be the subject of "enhancements" are not being able to get the data. Whatever the case it is a no go situation at the moment.

I can confirm that regular DirecTv receivers do not suffer from this problem as I have both flavors and the DirecTv is up and running.

Hoping someone knows the answer.

Update on this issue:

DirecTivo & 6th generation boxes use an extended guide that is transmitted on spot beam transponder 32 now. It has been moved from what I have been told. This will make these unites not work in areas where this transponder can not be received.

it seems to be a direcTV satellite problem and not a tivo or a planned change....

A recent reply to BretM over at DBSforums:

"Thank you for writing. Due to adjustments being made to our satellite,
signal strength on Transponders 30 and 32 is temporarily below normal.
Our engineers will restore the normal signal strength shortly. We regret
any frustration this issue has generated. Our goal is to provide you
with flawless service. Fortunately, this sort of occurrence is extremely
rare. We have a pretty respectable history of providing uninterrupted
service. Your satisfaction is very important to us, and we're working
hard to make sure to minimize technical issues like this one in the
future.

We apologize for any inconvenience . Thank you again for your message.

First of all let me say that the 26% lock issue is different than the 28% lock issue.

The 26% issue that we are having is during the aquiring info from the satellite. I think the 28% issue is during the confirmation of the satellite setup.

I have tried the unplugging cables and fix problem later thing. It does not work for this problem.

However I would greatly appreciate it if someone has solved this problem and could share the info. I need my TIVO back it has been down now for about 3 weeks.

The 26% lock issue has nothing to do with the 28%.

The 26% has to do with no signal on TP 30 & 32 as this is where DTivo gets the extended guide from. People who have the 26% issue are out of luck until D* fixes the issue with its birds in space and gets 30 & 32 back up to power. From what I heard, the FCC gave them 6 weeks to get the issue fixed or face fines and we are now into week 2 or 3...

A Buddy of mine gave me a call last night bright and early at 2am, telling me his new Tivo he just got won't work. After talking with him for about an hour I found out that his Tivo was recieved while he was at work, he hooked it up, called D* and got it activated, then made a service call to Tivo, which updated him to 3.1, then he went into setup to get the dual tuners, now he's stuck at 28%. Bummer huh? I haven't really messed with it, sitting here at work now, is there anything I can tell him to do, just to get live TV? He's frantic that he's going to miss 2 programs that are coming on tonight, and I really don't know what to tell him to do at work without looking at my Tivo and walking through it step by step.

Thanks

There are lots of people with that same problem both here and at tivocommunity. There is a workaround. Search for "28%".

unplug the sat feeds and let it boot up. After a pretty long while with no sat info ar progress the tivo will give up and give you options. Chooose fix it later and then hook up the feeds and go to live tv. should go from there. xponders tivo uses for initial info are down off and on lately. Live tv comes from many xponders and they are good.

The extended Guide is also on Transponders 30 and 32 so we are out of luck until DTV fixes whatever problems they have.

I've been having the 28% issue. If I reload back to 2.5.0 I can run the guided setup and it'll still stick at 28%, but turning the DSR6000R01 off & on, it'll boot fine. Then I'm upgrading to v3.1 from there, and everything is fine, just don't run the setup guide for the satellite. To me it seems 2.5.0 doesn't check to see if the setup went though all the way, but 3.1 does so v.3.1 will not complete the setup guide and it'll loop though it again. 2.5 doesn't check so it'll boot fine.
