I have done much reading and searching but can't seem to figure out howto get noppv working on my Series 2 SA. I have direct tv and a 3-4 monted 100 GB Tivo. I read that this script was written to work on Dtivos and that SA tivos do not require noppv (first post in following link)
http://www.dealdatabase.com/forum/showthread.php?threadid=10115&perpage=15&highlight=noppv.tcl&pagenumber=10)

However I have direct tv and a SA and all PPV channals are listed as "PPV channal" which makes it kinda hard to record future events through tivo.

When I tryed running noppv.tcl I got:

-------------------------------------------
bash-2.02# ./noppv.tcl

noppv tcl script:
Removes PPV flag from existing shows in the Tivo database.

** Timezone set to GMT -6 **

no such object:
while executing
"dbobj [dbobj $obj get ApgChannel] get ShortName"
("uplevel" body line 6)
invoked from within
"uplevel $body"
invoked from within
"transaction {uplevel $body}"
invoked from within
"MyRetryTransaction {
regexp {([0-9]*)/(.*)} $channel junk fsid subobjid
set obj [db $db openidconstruction $fsid $subobjid]
set num [dbobj $o..."
("foreach" body line 3)
invoked from within
"foreach channel $channels {
if { $load != "file" } {
MyRetryTransaction {
regexp {([0-9]*)/(.*)} $channel junk fsid subobjid
set obj [db $db ..."
(file "./noppv.tcl" line 166)
bash-2.02#
-------------------------------------------------------

Thanks in advance for any help.

You're trying to use a script that is not meant for your device. No matter how hard you want it to be, it isn't.

Noppv changes DTV guide data (not the show name, but data you can't see). There is nothing it can or will do for a SA unit. It has nothing to do with the show name.

Edit: By the way, if you keep running scripts on your Tivo that were not written for it, guide data will probably be the least of your problems.

I know that it changes the DTV guide data, I was assuming that my SA unit receaved the same guide data as they are both playing the same shows. Is there still a ppv being set for the guide data that can be removed?

As I understood most of the series 2 Dtivo hacks could be made to work for SA.

I guess my question now is if the SA unit ever receaves extended information on the ppv's or not.

Thanks for your quick reply

Why would you believe they receive the exact same data? The SA gets its info from the phone call whereas the DTivo gets its data from Directv

Again. They only way to get the info you want is from Tivo (unless you create the data yourself.) The script will do nothing for you.

I did not beleave, I was assuming. It seemed to make since that they would use the same type/format of data to save time on tivos part, why reinvent the wheel. Anyhow now that it is clear that they receave different types of data, Is there anyway to get the ppv data to an SA unit.

well, yes. but, this is one of those scripts that really is meant for the dtivo, so it falls outside of "most" of the scripts.

nope, i highly doubt it. in hte long run, you really dont need to worry about ppv stuff if you are using an SA. the reason noppv is out there is for people to order ppvs outside of standard dtv setup, including ppvs beyond the standard 24hrs.

NOPPV will do nothing on an SA. It changes DTV channel related info.
