View Full Version : Help: black screen on a T60?

I've done a few Sony T60s now, so I am fairly confident that I "know what I'm doing"... My friend just recently picked one up off of ebay that claimed to be working. When we plug it in, all we get is the typical bootup garbage for a second and then the screen goes blank (black). I've opened it up and reseated the power connector and even tried a known to be working hard drive in there and nothing. We never even get to the Welcome screen.

Is this thing toast? Any way to fix it in house?

Actually, its not the typical T60 bootup garbage flicker screen. Its a black screen that looks like a monitor with a bad refresh rate.

you gotta try it with the rca output and the svideo. If they all do it its junk. If only coaxials, then maybe a fixxer. Either way if it wasnt an AS IS auction return it. Not worth putting money unless you got it cheap, which is unlikely.

Ebay has ALOT of junkers floating, thats why they all say AS IS, but I tested and it powers up but have no DTV service to check..................you follow??
