Two nights ago we had some pretty major thunderstorms, but through the worst of it, the TiVo was unplugged. (SAT-T60)
Yesterday morning, for the first time ever, it rebooted while watching a live TV show, then I got the GSOD, but it fixed itself in about 20 minutes.
About an hour ago, I came in and found it with a gray screen that say's "Cannot boot kernel".
I'm sure it's shot, but what part can I replace?
Help!

I'd start with the hard disk. Hope you have a backup.

I do indeed have a backup; the original hard drive. The one in the machine is only a couple months old though.
But it seems to me that that message would mean that the system is not reading its 'bios'; that it never gets as far as the hard drive... ? True?

Sounds like more of a drive problem than bios. It it were bios level related, it wouldn't know there is a kernel to boot yet.

Hmmm, well that's food for thought...
I'll post what it was, when I figure it out.
