ok im new to this my situation is this

i ordered dtivo for $99 thank you to u guys on this forum for pointing this out. i was excited about it till i tried to order local channels that when things started to go down hill. i cant recieve them in my area. now i can get cleveland locals with antenna usually some days i get them fuzzy though. but they come in better than toledo locals always. so i figured im in cleveland area so i should be able to get dtv cleveland locals but no the tv gods (the SHVIA experts) determined that i should get toledo locals witch dtv dont offer. so i cant tivo the networks (abc, nbc ect.). this is disapointing to say the least. my first thought was to go to the tv gods and choke them till they seen it my way however im a quadrapeligic and my fingers are not strong enough to squeeze whipped cream so i ruled that out.

so i returned to this forum. for 2 days i have poured through this forum and others looking for a solution. so far my eyes are red, im dazed and confused but i dont think that any of these hacks will help me but im not sure. i would greatly appreciate some help or suggestions.

im not opposed to paying for my locals but they wont let me. im not crazy about getting a test card that i know we cant talk about here.

1. could one of the hacks help me get the locals for say cleveland would be ideal or any other would work?

2. could i change my region local some how and recive them?

i thought even mabey i could get a stand alone tivo also for my antenna (if i do this where could i find the best deal for a tivo) but if i do this would i have to pay a second tivo subscription this would be a deal killer.

sorry for the long post but i need help

thanks to all

Unfortunately, you're pretty much screwed as far as getting locals through legitimate means. If your zip code falls in the Toledo area then that's what you're stuck with. At the moment, DTV does not offer Toledo locals nor are they on the list of locals being added in 2003. Perhaps somewhere down the road they'll add them but for now you're SOL.

You need to "move" to Cleveland. No reason why you can't keep the same "billing address" you are currently using and the same phone number for that matter. If you have a friend with a Cleveland address, then use that.

Edit to add:
This sort of thing is discussed regularly on the TiVo Community Forum. See this thread for example http://www.tivocommunity.com/tivo-vb/showthread.php?threadid=128359

thanks for responding

yea mabey i can "move" just seems silly i gotta jump thru hoops so i can give them another $5.

i did some checkin and the city 20 mile from me on 2 sides can get locals and 1 is closer to toledo than me. ah well guess they gotta draw line somewhere.

thanks mabey ill check back later for more ideas
