I'm preparing to do an upgrade to an HDVR2 and am running WInXP with NTFS on my computer--can I use the intended upgrade drive to run FAT32--or do I just get a small drive with FAT32 to boot cocmputer from. ANy help would be appreciated.

Thanks.

I just upgraded mine also... had a blast doing it and learned a lot. Now once my TV is replaced (move your butt Toshiba!) I'll start doing some more hacking on my TiVo.

Easiest way to do this (and I think safest do you don't boot in to WinXP accidentally) is to totally unplug your XP drive. Get the MFSTools 2.0 iso file and burn a bootable disk.

Unplug your XP drive (if it is NTFS MFS Tools can't write to it anyway) and just plug in your backup drive (if you have one), old TiVo drive and new Tivo drive. Boot with your MFS Tools disk and go for it!
