Hello All,

I have several channels in my channel listing that I dont get. Like most of us. Well I have the TiVo recording certain shows. Well it will see the show on a channel I dont get and record 30/60 minute of blank. Annoying yes. Also another thing is when I do a search for programs to record, I get all the channels I dont get (like showtime/starz/etc). How can I get it so it wont look at those channels?

Warning: I am friendly in unix but not a great hacker of the DTiVo (yet).

You don't have to hack anything. Go to the "Direct TV" menu. Then Uncheck the Channels that you don't want to see in "Channels that I receive"

I have noticed that some channels which I uncheck in "Channels You Receive" end up getting checked again after a couple of days. In particular this happens with DSN channel 340 over and over again. Has anyone else noticed this phenomenon? Thanks.

Yes, it happens all the time with "Channels You Receive." If it annoys you then use "Favorites."

Yeah, I get this all the time. Is there a way to automate the removal of channels from the lineup? For some reason after a few days to a week all the shows return to the listing. From what I have read this is true to non-modded tivo's as well.

That's weird, mine never come back once I remove them from the Channels I receive list. New ones appeared recently, in the 700's, for all the sports crap.

Heres an old script I worked up a while back. I originaly created it to nuke the shopping channels off of the TV lineup, because for some reason or another, they like to show up again every now and then. Whatever channel you target with this script will never show up on your tivo again, unless you reverse the process (which is possible, just remove the CBV attribute, however I have no intention of coding that feature into this script at this time). In fact, you'll no longer even be able to select or deselect it from your "Channels you receive" list, because the tivo will now act like its a locals channel that you aren't authorized to see :)

How to use this script:

For the specific channel you want to remove, you'll have to give its abbreviation to the script. For example, I use this script to remove the shopping channels, so I run it like this:

./channelnuke.tcl SHOP HSN AS QVC ACN INFO
