In order to make dvds, I created a custom bit rate to make 2 hours fit onto one dvd, and also to default to 720x480 recording. I notice a lot of blockiness even with a relatively high bit rate. If I record a digital cable channel, it's much worse compression than the original broadcast. The bit rate was somewhere between high and best. I tried adjusting it back to the same numbers as Best, but it didn't really help. Any ideas?
