I was doing the Monte hack and one step requires you to restore your orignal image that you make a backup of at the very beginning. So I do the following:

mfsrestore -s 127 -xzpi /mnt/c/tivo-s2.bak /dev/hdc

And I get the following error message:

"Restore failed: Backup target not large enough for entire backup by itself."

How could this happen? I didn't switch drives or anything. Am I doing something wrong?

Thanks.

If your original drive is smaller than 140GB then you don't need the -s 127 command. That's used for increasing the size of the swap file to accommodate drive capacities larger than 140GB. Try it again but this time leave out the -s 127 statement in the command line.
