The power went out here for a while this evening, and when I got home it was back on again. I've got my TiVo connected to an APC UPS and the TiVo's record light was on, but the remote wasn't responsive and the picture on the TV was paused. So I unplugged it from the UPS to reset it.

Now when I plug it back in (either to the UPS or direct to the wall outlet), I get a scrolling, distorted black screen. That's it. There are no lights on the front of the TiVo, and I don't hear anything going on there either, although the room is noisy and I haven't opened it up yet.

Edit: Just checked and it seems like no fan activity either. I found a place where I can buy a power supply for SVR-2000 for $40, but is that something I can replace myself?

Any advice? Please?

I had my TIVO modem go out two weeks ago while going through an APC UPS/Phone protector. The gave me a little trouble with my claim on the warnety, but did not flat out refuse me (yet). Give them a call, all APC products have an insurance policy on the equuipment they protect.

Replaced the power supply this morning, but I don't think that was the problem. When I plugged the TiVo in, there was still no lights, no hard drive, no fan...nothing. Out of curiosity, I unplugged it and then removed the Turbonet adapter, and plugged it back in...voila, power and lights. Unplugged the TiVo again, reconnected the Turbonet and powered it up once more...and this time it powered up.

I'm curious to put my old power supply back in now, but I don't want to mess with something that's working at the moment. So who knows what the problem was. At least it's working again, and I guess that's all that matters.
