I want to move video/audio from my DSR7000. How much HDD space is required per 30 minute slot??

I am upgrading the drives in my server and don't want to get to little.

thx!!!

how long is a piece of string? :)

the answer is: "it varies". i've seen a thirty minute show take as little as 359mbytes, and i've seen it be twice that. depends on channel, subject matter, etc.

that's a pretty good range, though; plan for the higher end of that scale and you'll be ok. just keep in mind also that if you're going to make dvds etc, you'll need multiples of that. for example, if you had 10 shows at 400mbytes, you'd have (at the least):

4gb for the ty files
4gb or less for the resulting mpgs (less if you cut commercials
4gb for the dvd itself, maybe more depending on what package you use.

i've got a 120gb disk, and it gets too small if i get way behind on my dvd making.

thx.....

That's what I thought.

Gonna shoot for 2-120gig drives in my server. That should allow me a little time since I have 120gig in Tivo.
