View Full Version : tivo locks up on bootup

i have a tivo that is lifetime hacked .it worked fine for a cople of weeks.its an hd2vr with hu .when the script went bad i left it unpluged overnite and let it re boot in morn,when it asked for card i incert .the script must have 745 from the cam and now when it reboots it stops at just a few more seconds.when i first did it it even downloaded the guide.is there a hardboot procedure at startup.

You hard booted when you unplugged it.

i have found the help files on this. the cable the power supply.but no help.i think the drive is bad.one day when i was useing the tivo two record a show it gave me a green measage and and a fatel error measage it send to leave it alone for three hours to recover. i did and it worked fine till i changed the script on the card.and now this.i do repaires on computors and do see drives bad from the begiining.i am now teaching myself with this forum to creat backup image.when drive is done up agagn .i feel i must buy a new drive as i cannot trust this anymore.i will try to save the image i this one and try it in a new drive first,and i will use the utilitys to test this and new drive.all this stuff is the same as windows dos.and im used to just pushing yes or no.mfstools is a bit easer.isent there a recover program like nortons to repaire the bad sector,and possible recover the data and move it to a good area.does mfstools have such a feature.i am willing to learn this now.

also if this forum is to hack the tivo but pay as a sub and not direct tv then i am sorry if i insult anyone here.no offence is intended. iwill keep it to myself.i do pay for three other tivo,s this is just a extra two play with.

we do not discuss dtv hacking in this forum. we do not discuss service theft in general.
