So it CAN be done? My understanding is upgrading drive 2 requires a complete rebuild but this would be adding drive 2 later. I assume you mean just use TivoMAD?

By referring you to the Hinsdale guide I was implying yes. If you are adding a second drive it can be done without a rebuild. Check out the How-To. It's a cake-walk.

Replacing a drive requires a rebuild (or at least a backup and restore)
