thx MRBLACK for the site tips.

I got my SAMSUNG DVD drive working flawlessly.

I want to upgrade drive to keep games on it. I think that may require a mod chip. going off to order today!

still learning!! fun fun!

I was lucky. My new XBOX had a Samsung drive in it. I don't know who you are ordering from, but I have ordered a couple times from GameShopUSA (http://www.gameshopusa.com/default.php) without issue (if that helps). They are out of New York - they shipped the next day and I had my orders within 3 days.

I did not get the chance to solder it last nite, but will do tonite.

You can use it to repair an XBOX that got bricked by a bad 007/raincoat flash.

well since i don't have the original rca adaptor, i get the Black screen of no video when i install the mod chip.

Being the pioneer that i am, i pulled the adaptor half way out, now i can see the clean bios screen.

well- my drive wont read cd-r's or the brand of cd-rw's i have.

I tried burning a DVD with bin, but now dvd-r/ram drive is on the dive. Will have to get new one from panasonic.

Was gonna be my first attempt at burning a dvd-r backup....... :)
