Help Please

I updated my tivo HD with xtreme25, the unit rebooted fine. now it's telling me it is building a database. How long should it take to build this database? It has been running for hours with the same screen. any info or help would be nice.

The database rebuilding shouldn't take more than about 30 minutes or so but definitely not more than an hour. I'd let it sit for a while and then reboot if it doesn't get beyond this screen. Chances are you may have to start over with the 2.5Xtreme installation.

One little word of advice when posting in this forum - never, ever beg for help in the title of your thread. It's more likely to get you ignored rather than helped. Try inserting a brief description of the topic instead next time. Something on the order of "Stuck on database rebuilding" should attract more help. This isn't meant to be a flame. It's just considered proper etiquette here. This is most definitely a DIY hobby but everyone runs into problems from time to time. You'll find a lot of experienced members here that will be more than willing to help you out. That's what we're here for. What we don't like is someone begging to be spoonfed an answer.

I have reinstalled 2.5, 3 times now and keep coming out with the same results. I have even tried a new hard drive. do you think it could be hardware problem?

I'd try a different image of 2.5Xtreme. There are a couple of different sites that have it for download. Look in the "Official image begging thread" in the S2 Tivo hacking forum for links. If you still have problems, try using a different CD-ROM drive to boot from if you have one available.
