Hey guys,

I just installed a new 120 Gig Samsung in my Dtivo, replacing the standard 30gig that was already there.

First Installed Extreme 2.5 and then I copied over the 2.52 upgrade and installed that.

I'm sure when I was prompted I said yes when it asked me if my Hard Drive was over a certain size.

When I check system info it is displaying only 28 hours of recording time, I was told by friends that this shoudl reflect the size of the new 120 gig drive, which it doesn't.

How can I resolve this?

I did a df -k and here is the reported size of my drive..please help!

Did you install your drive back in the Tivo and let it boot before you installed the 2.5.2 upgrade? If not, you will need to start from scratch. Check my tutorial on installing 2.5Xtreme and the 2.5.2 upgrade. You'll find it on page 4 of the How Tos Only sticky thread in the DirecTV Tivo Hacking forum.

To expand your partitions, you will need to reinstall your drive in the PC as secondary master and boot with the MFS Tools 2.0 CD. You will need to run DTivoMad to expand the partitions and get the Tivo OS to recognize the added capacity of the larger drive. Press Enter at each of the two prompts. Then type in the following:

mfsadd -x /dev/hdc

and press Enter. You should see the expanded capacity reported after only a few seconds. Do a Ctrl+Alt+Del and shut down the PC when the POST screen appears. Reinstall the drive ibn your DTivo and boot it up. You should now see the added capacity in the System Information screen somewhere in the neighborhood of about 100-110 hours.

After I upgraded my 40gb drive to a 160gb drive seen here (http://www.dealdatabase.com/forum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=27233)

My recording time went from 25 hours to 123 hours (WOOHOO!)
however, I notice whatever I record ends up with a yellow (!) mark pretty much immediately (well, within 1 day or so). It doesnt get erased (or least, none have yet).

My tivo suggestions get erased, the stuff with the TiVo logo next to it at the bottom of the now showing list... But why do my recordings end up marked for deletion so fast??? The unit has plenty of drive space.

You've probably got several season passes set up and you've got Tivo's suggestions turned on. Turn off Tivo's suggestions and then select "Save until I delete" for any shows you want to keep. The yellow exclamation mark will change to a green dot. The Tivo's suggestions will record until your drive is completely full and then start dropping your shows off one by one to make room for more recordings. The shows recorded as Tivo's suggestions will be the first ones to be deleted.

If you check the status of each recording you will notice that it will be deleted to make room for new recordings. Your drive capacity is calculated based on how many shows you currently have recorded as well as upcoming shows set up for recording. Even though the drive may not be filled up, the Tivo takesinto account any future recordings you have scheduled and will start deleting any shows you don't have marked for saving to make room for new recordings.
