My HDVR2 unit has been worknig great until recently.
I was trying to watch a recorded episode of something but it was a hashed recording. None of my controls worked so i had to unplug the unit.

It rebooted and shortly after, a window popped up and said "need to activate dvr service" .

My season passes no longer work, and i can't record anything.
My version number is 3.1.U5-01-2-151


My friend has the same unit with the same software number and it works perfectly fine. I can't figure out the problem.

Can anyone help ?

That indicates a problem with your access card. Call 800-DIRECTV and tell them that you need to make sure the DVR service is active on your account.

First, signal theft and TIVO service theft are not tolerated here and will get you flamed.

That being said................


The HDVR2 gets it TIVO activation from your access card. Older Series 1 units gets its info from the s/w on the drive.

If I give you anymore info, I will have to go see the janitor.
