hey guys, i'm doing a little series 1 hacking; built a custom kernel, nothing really fancy, but i noticed when i'm extracting using tyserver, i get messages fairly frequently on the console that say "<7>mmu_context_overflow". they don't seem to really affect anything, but they worry me. a google search yields no useful information. i know that the "<7>" prefix means it's a "debug" level message as opposed to a "warning" or such, so maybe it's no big deal.

anyone else seen this?

well, i still don't know exactly why it happened, but i found out what was causing it. i was using an old version of tserver_mfs that still had the "progress meter" in it, and if tserver is started during init, anything it writes to syserr shows up in the kernel log. i was seeing all of the 1%,2%,3% etc. messages in there, with somewhat escaped control characters. i commented out that logging and now i don't get the mmu_context_error messages.

strange.

Thanks for the explaination. I've seen those messages and wondered what was causing them.

Makes sense. Guess I need to get a more current version of tserver.
