*edit*
I'm thinking I have a problem that is confined to my DVD player. But just in case, is anyone else experiencing the following from DVDs made with TyTool?
-the DVD menu will load when the disc is inserted, but not when pressing the menu button on the remote
-at the end of a video on the DVD, it will just loop back to the beginning of that video, instead of going on to the next
-it is not possible to go back to the menu or navigate to another video on the disc in any way except to eject the disc and reload it
Anyone else have these problems? I realize that jdiner isn't responsible for this section of the program, but I'd like to know whether I'm alone in these results, or there are some flaws that need to be addressed by the author.
ps-are there any DVD authoring programs that will construct DVDs from the .vob files? I wouldn't mind being able to dress up my own menus a little :)

Try the title button instead of the menu button on your remote.

You can author the DVDs in any number of commercial software programs. Instead of using the VOB-Mux and Create IFO Files/Dirs options, use the Mux File(s) or Split Multiplex options for creating either an mpeg file or a set of elemental streams. Check your authoring program to see which type it prefers. There are numerrous posts and tutorials scattered throughout this forum with procedures for creating DVDs so look around and see what you can find. Some of the more popular authoring programs are DVD-Lab, DVD Workshop, and DVD Maestro or SpruceUp. DVD-Lab seems to be the current favorite because it allows you to import the converted ty files without having to patch any headers.

Thanks, yeah, I've followed many of those threads, but thought there might be a way to solve this small problem and still use TyTool, since all other previous methods I've used have resulted in terrible remuxing.
I'll check out that DVDlab, though! That's new since the last time I tried to make DVDs. Two questions, though:
1- can you still edit out content if you load the ty files into it directly. I assume you can't, but you know what happens when I assume :)
2- not Tivo-related, but I couldn't find mention of it on the DVDlab website: can you supply multiple audio tracks for the DVD?

TMGENC DVD AUTHOR works well BUT you have to patch the header first.

Nevermind the first question! I found that I'm able to use TyTool all the way to the VOB files, and those import into DVDlab just fine! I was able to get a DVD that played on my DVD player, and reacted the exact way I layed it out in the program. DVDlab is the program I've been waiting for! Excellent piece of software. And it's so less picky than Pinnacle's DVD Impression.
I'd still like to know the answer to the other question, though. Does anyone have experience with multiple audio tracks?

There was a thread on that topic quite a while back. I believe Bato came up with a way to do multiple audio tracks in DVD-Lab. Run a search on his username and look at some of his earlier posts regarding DVD-Lab.
A guide from other user based in my information:

A guide to create a real Audio Selection menu with DVDlab and IFOedit:

Guide to a Play All button in DVDlab:

Just remember that DVDlab is a single VTS creation tool, so if you put more than 1 movie is better to all have the same audio tracks, if not and you change movies, I guess you will not hear anything.
I just read the guides and made some quick tests, maybe for my DVDs I'll do some things different, but that's just me.

Thanks, I appreciate the response. Perhaps I'll just wait for the author to add the functionality to the program its self. It works so well I don't want to screw around with it :)
man, this is a great program...
