I searched around the forum for the Samsung SIR-S4120 but to my surprise there were no posts about it. This is the 100 hour DTivo unit that is a first run for Samsung.

Unfortunatly, I'm unable to get my locals back on my DSR-6000 so I'm thinking of going totally stock with this guy. Does anyone have any opinions on this unit? Good, bad, ugly?

If you think I can find more info by searching under something other than "Samsung" or "SIR-S4120" please let me know!

Thanks!

Try my tutorial for upgrading your DTivo to get your locals:

Why don't you just reimage the DSR6k with 3.1?

Thanks! But there didn't seem to be anything about the performance of the unit. I'm not looking to hack this one, just curious how it runs. I love my current DSR6000 on 2.5 (extreme) I just wonder if this box is as good with the new legit 3.1 software...ya know, menu speed, video quality, sound quality, etc.

Dude, that's awesome...thanks for taking the time to do that. However, I'm pretty sure I followed that same procedure (from the 3.1 upgrade readme) and I still got the "boot parm on hdc unrecognized" (see this post (http://www.dealdatabase.com/forum/showthread.php?s=&postid=119181#post119181) ).

I've tried the drives in just about every hard drive configuration (HDx) but I don't think I had the CD as the secondary slave (I always had it as HDA - primary master).

The confusing thing is this upgrade worked on my friends Tivo with the same PC, same exact model hard drive, and same 2.5 Xtreme software on it. When I get the "boot parm on hdc unrecognized" it wasn't even reading the hard drive at that point. I'll follow your instructions and see if that does the trick. As it is now I had to enable my spare receiver to get my locals back - and it's not a Tivo

If you have any ideas about my error, I'm all ears!

Thanks!
