My $40 AMW V101 DVD player plays everything I throw at. It reads native ISO MEPGII files generated through Josh's Tools.

I am having a problem with files encoded with DD5.1 audio.
I can hear nothing. Pop in another identically burned archive disk with MPEGII audio and it sounds fine. The player plays commercial DD5.1 disks.

Any ideas or sugggestions.

Thanks,

jj

So you haven't done any audio transcoding? It's just the plain DD audio passed to the DVD? You using a DTivo? If so, which tivo os version? Have you tried many different shows with DD5.1? You have your Tivo set to output and record in DD? You can use the fiberoptic output of your Tivo to listen to live DD5.1? You ever see your DD audio receiver change modes at all? Is your DVD player set to output DD5.1?

Mine worked just fine with Die Another Day. Can mix Mpeg and DD5.1 shows on one disc, although DVD spec says you shouldn't. ;)

Maybe you could try a sample audio transcoding using #7 just to see if you can play 2 chan. DD. Maybe your player doesn't like DD5.1 while playing unspec video @ 480x480 (if using a dtivo).

Thaks for the great suggestions.

I ran your checks and everything should be working fine. I think it is the DVD player.

Any suggestions on a player that will play DTivo DD5.1 sound?

You can check out this sticky thread (http://www.dealdatabase.com/forum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=25689) database of DVD players which can play TyTool DVDs.

I like my RCA RC6001P (http://www.rca.com/product/viewdetail/0,2588,PI700020,00.html?) progressive scan DVD player. Plays all my outa-spec SVCDs (XSVCD (http://www.dvdrhelp.com/xvcd.htm)) & outa-spec DVDs (480x480 w/mpeg audio), DD 5.1 & DTS. Even plays MP3s. And has these other features (http://www.dvdrhelp.com/dvdplayers.php?DVDname=rc6001p&Search=Search). Can find some on eBay (http://search-desc.ebay.com/search/search.dll?query=rc6001p&ht=1&sosortproperty=1&from=R10&sotextsearched=2&BasicSearch=) right now for $25-$50.
