hey guys,

i have installed mplayer based on scanman0's .18 windows exe load. i also installed java. the gui comes up and some streams play just fine. however, during playback of some streams the file will be converted to 24 FPS. then a 'progressive seq' is detected and the telecine ends and the program hangs.

is there anyway to prevent this? i am new to this and maybe there is a simple fix to this problem.

i believe that i recorded the streams at hi-quality. any help would be greatly appreciated.

sorry, maybe it is the windows compiled version. it is actually .16. I am looking for another compiled version. please let me know if you know the link. thanks.

Disclaimer: I haven't used the Windows version. Under Linux, I see this (Inverse Telecine alternating with Progressive Seq) all the time, but it doesn't cause a problem there.

But you could try to bypass it by specifying "-vop lavcdeint" on the command line. That should skip inverse telecining in favor of simple deinterlacing.
It might even look better that way, too.

I'm trying to use vserver/mplayer to watch on my windows xp PC, from an HDVR2. Mplayer works perfectly for about 8-10 seconds, and then freezes completely (have to use the task manager to kill it). I don't believe that the problem involves vserver - it keeps running and I can try again. The freeze is always at the same point for a given program.

I'm using the windows installer version of cygwin mplayer.
It happens on more than one pc, and so I don't think it has anything to do with driver/hardware issues.
I don't think there is a problem with with recorded video, since I can extract a full program with mfsftp and play it.

I've searched and found a variety of problems that other people have had, but nothing just like this. I've tried many combinations of mplayer switches to increase cache, turn off features, etc. but it doesn't seem to affect this problem.

I'd appreciate any leads or suggestions about how to go about debugging.....

Thanks.

zyll,

it is the same issue i am having. if you setup the cygwin shell and run the same player from that, the stream runs fine.

it is definitely a compile error.

guys,

can anyone point me or post a windows compile for .19? it would be greatly appreciated.

thanks.

TTGB,
Thanks.... I did not receive any error messages or see a log that gave messages like what you described, and so I thought that perhaps it was a different problem.
It's a shame to be *so* close to working!
