View Full Version : .Cut files not been picked up byTytool when muxing??

I have a music video with multiple artists, which I am breaking into smaller, individual videos.
I was able to process the .Ty file originally and managed to extract the first song, then I went back and tried to the second song later that day.
what I did was to load the .Ty file and create a new cut file, then I multiplexed it, the output .mpeg was the whole file rather than the select section (next song).
I am giving it many tries and still does not pickup the .cut file.
Cut file in the same dyrectory as the Ty file, it looks like a path problem to me.
This is my path below, but when I made the the .key and .cut file they always land in the "project" directory, I had also tried moving it manually to the tytoll directory and still does not work.
LDIR:c:\Temp2\project\TyTool
DVDDIR:c:\Temp2\project\DvD
OUTDIR:c:\Temp2\project\Tytool
Please advice.
Thank you
PS: is there away to do multiple cut in the same file and then when muxing, it will spit out multiple mpeg files, per example, a single ty file that contains music video with multiple songs, I want to brake it into single mpeg songs and cutting the commercials in between?

I found a way, and I do not know if this is the right way, or a work-around.
I basically have to parse the entire .ty file, which is "make key" and the "edit key" everytime I want to take a section out of the the .Ty file, since it will not read the .cut file, if you try to re-use the same "Key" file to make a different .cut file.
Please reply.

Did you save the cut file after making your cuts? If not you won't see any cuts in the muxed output file.
If you want individual songs from the file you'll have to cut and process each one individually. Select your start cut point at the beginning of the ty file and the end cut point at the beginning of the clip you wish to extract from the ty file and save the cut. Do the same thing right after the clip and at the end of the file and save the second cut. Now save the cut file (i.e. File|Save Cut List) and close GOP Editor. Choose the Multiplex File(s) option and you should now have just the song you wanted after it finishes processing. I would suggest that you rename the mpg file so there won't be a conflict when you process the next clip.
You don't need to use the Parse File option unless you want to split it into elemental streams. This option selects the vsplit utility. You only need to make the key file one time. You can edit it and make a new cut file each time but you'll have to mux it before you edit the file again or the new cut file will overwrite the current one.

Dude you are doing something wrong. It works perfectly for everyone else. Take a step back and look at the process when doing this with TyTool.
Make Key files - Does just that. makes the custom .key file.
Edit Key Files - opens and uses a .key file. This is done with the GopEditor program. Saves a .cut file back to disk. This file is saved with the same name as the .ty but becomes .cut. NOTE: Until you know what is going on then DO NOT use the save as function in the GopEditor menu or you are doomed.
Mux/Vob - This opens the selected .ty file. It then tries to open a .cut file with the same name (see previous step). And if it finds it uses it.
If it is not find the .cut file then it was not saved with the right name in the right location. The 2 possible places for it to be located is the same directory as the .ty file or the select output-directory from the menu. If it is anywhere else you are just plain out of luck. It won't search your whole drive or even any further into a different directory. That is way beyond what I was interested in doing.
So run the process. Run a system find for the .cut files. Verify the name, verify the directory, and try again.

I just did a fast test, but this step is not clear, what I did was open the .key file to create a .cut file with save command (not save as), then the new .cut file changed the old .cut file, when I multiplex I get samefilename.mpg the second time samefilename-1.mpg, the third samefilename-2.mpg and so on.
I guess you:
a) deleted the original cut
b) saved the new cut with other name
c) processed the ty and without a .cut file with same name, you don't get any cuts
If you have a long recording with 5 videos, and you want 1 mpg for each, you cut everything but those 5 videos (each video between 2 cuts) and then with TyTool8r3 select File - Split multiplex file(s), and you will get the same files (same.mpg same-1.mpg, same-2.mpg same-3.mpg and same-4.mpg) each with 1 video clip.

Precisely. Well put.
