Below is a cut and paste from Josh's doc in TyTool.
This is the method he uses for his disks
I have used this method in burning and it works ok.

I have the version of Nero he suggests, but also have 6.0.0.0

What are others using and what settings / versions? There are several people out there who have burned many, many successful disks.
Maybe we could come up with a concensus (?) of what is working well for the real heavy disk burners here

I would like to know what others are using and having success with

"I use Nero Burning Rom version 5.5.10.7. Many tools will work. This just what came with this DVD burner. After advice from others on the forum I do the following:

- DVD-ROM (UDF/ISO)
- On the UDF tab I select XBox compatibility. I do not know that this is required only that every disk I have burned (100+ test burns now 1 DVD-RW disk/10 real show DVD- R's) has worked as a result.
- Hit the new button to close the wizard.
- Drag only the AUDIO_TS and VIDEO_TS from the output directory for TyTool into the pane. (Please see the manual for this or your program for real details this is highest level only).
- Burn it to disk. That is all it takes for me.

When I do this I get perfect sync in every show on the disk. Chapters work perfectly. Playback is rock solid with no A/V sync loss. At this point you should be ready to roll.

3.0 Save yourself some coasters:

Look at the disk before you burn it using WinDVD or PowerDVD. PowerDVD is my own personal favorite because it loads up so much faster. But either will work. Unless it is directly hardware related the disk will work the same in those programs as it does on the dvd player. With the cost of media you will want to be sure and it is simple to check.

4.0 Q & A:

At this point there is nothing here. But as the new feature set matures I expect that things I have not covered will come up. They will wind up here in future versions of the documentation.

4.1 Nero Issues:

Well crap. Nero manages to break things more often than not. In the 5.5.10.7 release everything was good. In the 5.5.10.10 release the UDF/ISO format for DVDs was mangled. In the 6.0 release it produces disks that are choppy on playback and behave terribly in general.

Stick to either 5.5.10.7 or IIRC 5.5.10.22 on the version of nero. If you have had sucess with a different version that either of these 2 then please let me know and I will add a list of known good and known bad ones here.

I use an older version of Nero prior to any of the 5.5.10.X releases and I've never had a problem (I think it's 5.5.9.5 but I'd have to check). I'm still using an old Pioneer A03 burner so I had no need for the support provided for newer DVD-R models in the later versions. There weren't any specific settings to worry about when using the UDF/ISO setup. I saw absolutely no reason to update it since I have read almost nothing but bad reports on the newer versions of Nero (i.e. anything from 5.5.10.X and above).

I've been thinkg about updating my burner to a newer version that will burn at 4X or higher. I'm using a modified firmware version on my A03 that permits burning at 2X with the right media. Ironically, I can burn at 2X using 1X-rated Princo DVD-RW media and the results are great.

Does anyone know if there's a way to transplant driver support from a newer version of Nero into an older version? I would imagine there's a file somewhere in the Nero software that contains all of the various drivers for the different models of burners. I'd be interested to see if I could upgrade the older Nero software to support a newer drive.

Captain,

You do use the UDF/ISO selection when burning? Have you used any of the other choices? I used DVD Video with some success in Nero 6.0.0.0. I have since uninstalled that version and am using the 5.5.10.7 version now.

Sorry, can't help you with the driver question. I would be interested to find out if that can be done.

I had always used Nero 5.5.10 using "DVD Video" and never had a problem. Newer versions of Nero caused problems. Something I have not seen mentioned here is the potential incompatibility with Nero burned discs and Pioneer standalone DVD players. I always thought it was BS. Like maybe someone's install was screwy or they did something incorrect. That is, until I tried to play my discs on a friend's Pioneer player!

The de facto standard in DVDR circles for burning the most widely compatible discs is to use a combination of two apps called ImgTool (http://www.doom9.org/Soft21/Vobtools/Classic_0.90B8.zip) and DVD Decrypter (http://www.dvddecrypter.com/download.asp) . This newer version of ImgTool even allows direct linking to DVD Decrypter to burn the image right after its been made. (Before, you had to make the image and then manually open DVD Decrypter and burn the image you made)

Anyway, the process is really straightforward. You give your disc a volume name and point it to the directory (or drive) which holds your VIDEO_TS folder and it builds the image for you and then DVD Decrypter burns it. It's the easiest and, more importantly, the most compatible way of burning DVDR's.

Yes, I use UDF/ISO exclusively when burning title sets to DVD-R/RW discs. I just checked my version of Nero and it's 5.5.9.0. It doesn't have the extra UDF options found in the newer versions. I have tried the DVD Video setting once or twice as it was recommended in an old tutorial that was posted ages ago. I had limited success with it but less than when I used the UDF/ISO option.

Yesterday I tried burning with Nero 6.0.0.15 with no luck so I upgraded to version .19 (current version) and using UDF/ISO with Force DVD Video compatability (under the UDF tab) burned 2 successfully with no jitter or other problems.
