A buddy of mine is about to get an S1 DTiVo that is unhacked and has been running for about 2 years. It should have a ton of icons that would be helpful for "fixing" hacked DTiVos. The thing is, he's a few states away from my home and I don't plan to visit soon.

I can probably get him to make an MFSTools backup of the drive before hacking it. Will that get the logo data files and structures we need? If not, what instructions should I pass to him to get this info?

Neither he nor I have the skill to take the data from that unit and make an "icon patch" that people can use. However, it's an opportunity to get the data.

So...if anyone can direct us how to do so, I'll get the data and make it available.

I suspect the way to do this is manually record a few minutes of each channel. I'll do it with my unhacked S2 if it will be helpful. Haven't hacked either of them so will leave one stock. My buddy can do the same with his S1 then leave it alone for a couple of days to make sure the logos are there. Just need instructions on how to pull the data once this is done.

Strange ... I've had zero station icons since I got my hacked S1 about 4 months ago. Suddenly 2 days ago I saw a "waiting reboot". I though it was the new software but it wasn't. I suddenly have icons for every channel.

Patience is a virtue I guess.

Whoa. Sounds like you might be able to pull the data. I'll ask Trilight to take a look at this thread. Maybe he knows where to pull it from.

I have all of the icons. That's not the problem. The problem is being able to insert them into the DirecTiVo's MFS database without corrupting it in the process. I've gotten as far as putting the file in and making the appropriate link in the LogoGroup tree but it only results in a reboot loop everytime.

Someone made their image available to me recently. I was going to work with it to learn more. However, when I had access to a broadband connection, my friend hosting the file for me was in San Diego and had to evacuate because of the fires. Honestly, unless I just get lucky or someone who has more insight than I into the DirecTiVo's MFS, I don't think I'm going to find a way to insert them without loading a new image that already has them.
