I have been searching through the forums but have not found an answer to my question.

Can the HDVR2 be upgraded to use my home LAN and broadband connection? I also have a wireless network in the house and don't care how it accesses the broadband connection. I know it can download it's updates from the network, what else will I be able to do if it is hooked in?

I see there is a card you can add into a Series 1 box, but I don't see anything for a Series 2.

series 2 units can be hacked to use certain usb ethernet adapters. you can use the ethernet for show extraction, downloading updates (not necessarily desirable if you are hacking your unit), shell access, and tivoweb. read the stickies in the s2 forum on how to do it, and what adapters are supported.

every time your unit updates, you will have to re-apply all your hacks.

Which will then nullify the usb LAN?
