I recently upgraded to the 3.1 version of software and finally got it working without any bugs.

I have a question regarding fixsub.

My HDVR2 is across the room from my phone jack and I don't like having it plugged in all the time.

When I go into my account status it says that my service data was downloaded correctly, which I assume comes form the satellite, but my phone call failed.

When I run fixsub, it resets the phone call to succeeded. Is there anything else I need to do to avoid the anoying pop-up messages?

I plan on calling in and uploading all of my purchase data periodically. Is there a timeframe I have to do this under before DTV freezes up or forces me to make the call?

No on both counts. If you've got your HDVR2 hacked then you don't want it dialing out for any reason or you will run the risk of losing everything you've done to it. If you want to order PPVs then do it via the DTV website. Your account will get properly billed without the need for your DTivo to dial out.
