Is this possible? I used tytool version 6 since 7 didn't seem to work on my series 2 standalone. I would like to extract while a file while it is still recording. If the extract is faster than the record, I would like for it to pause and keep extracting. I think I read somewhere that on one version of tytool that it will just stop. Anybody know?

Yes, it should work fine. I do it all the time on my DirecTivos so I don't see any reason why it wouldn't work on a standalone model. You really should upgrade to the latest versions of TyTool and the tserver_mfsX and NowShowing.tcl files for the best results.

I just user a tserver_mfs file since its the only one that works on my tivo. I think its version 6, though not sure. Any other version gives me the Not a TiVo super block error.

Though I did update my tytool to 8r3.

There are more recent versions of tserver_mfs and NowShowing.tcl that you should be using with the latest TyTool. It should be included with the TyTool zip file.

That doesn't work either.

Since upgrading to tserver_mfs7 I've not had any challenges, even when recording 2 shows on my T60. However, the drives are 7200 rpm, not 5400, which makes a difference and reading the NowShowing data can be risky. You did properly chmod, didn't you?

yes, I did. and I still get the not a tivo superblock error. but you said yours was a T60...i have a standalone series 2.

yeah, they're not the same but the T60 has a slower CPU and if it's recording 2 streams, that's quite a bit of activity. On the other hand, the bitrate is typically quite a bit lower.
