Can Series 2 with 3.1 be downgraded to 2.5?

Hi.. Just got my DSR7000/R17 Series2.. and have been reading alot on this site. Seems like hacking and playing with 2.5 and all the automated tweaks sound appealing. Can I downgrade the image on my DSR7000? Will it accept a DSR6000 image? Or is the hardware completely different?

No. The series 2 Tivos use a MIPS processor whereas the series 1 models have a PowerPC CPU. The software has to be compiled for the specific processor it will be used on. As such, a series 2 Tivo image will not work on a S2 Tivo and vice versa.

also, there has never been a 2.5 version of the tivo software released for the s2 units. the first version observed for s2 dtivos is 3.1.u5.
