active/inactive partitions question

My Dtivo just downloaded 3.1.0b. Is there any way to mount the old, inactive partiton (hda4 in my case) to copy over the old rc.sysinit and .profile to the new active one (hda7) via a bash prompt? I don't really want to take the tivo apart again....

Yes, telnet in, make a mount point, mount it, and copy away, the only problem is that I believe you lost bash with the upgrade so you're back to pulling the drive.
