i'm sorry in advance. i've read a little but i'm still very new and and don't understand. i'm sure this question has been answered somewhere i just haven't found it. anyway i just bought a t60 on ebay(lifetime no phone needed). i asked the guy what software it had on it and the guy said "hu card & xpluz software version". the hu card is the access card right? well the auction did not include a card so i had to order a new one. will everything still work with a new card?

Yes. You will receive either a P4 card or the new P5 card which is essentially the same as a P4. The hacks will still work on the T60 but you should probably keep the phone line disconnected to prevent any unwanted updates from overwriting the hacks on the drive. When you subscribe to DTV and the DVR service just tell the CSR at DTV that it's connected to the same phone line as your billing address when they ask. They don't actually check to see if it's connected so it's no big deal.

i have 2.5.2 and the guy said i would need 3.1.0 for it to work with a p4 card. is that right? will it not work at all? i am not a computer guy, i'm a mechanic. i would really rather just plug this baby in and have it work. i feel like i got a good del on this unit, so i'd rather not break something inside and have to buy parts or erase the hard drive and end up with just a pretty BOX. if there is no way around it can you give me a link that tells me step by step how to go about it.

A P4 card will work just fine in a DTivo with the 2.5.2 OS. If you have 3.1 on your DTivo, then only a P4 card will work with it.
