View Full Version : Installing TurboNet
I just got my TurboNet card in the mail today and I've got it installed in the Tivo, how do I get it working though? I'm not too sure what was used to hack the TiVo, as I bought it used. Is there a way that I can find that out? How do I get the software to the TiVo? I can Telnet into it...if that helps! :) Is there a FAQ that I can look at to install the TurboNet?

What is the make and model of your Tivo? Is it a standalone model or a DirecTivo? Are you currently running any hacks on it? There is a FAQ in the DirecTivo Hacking Forum that has some info on the Turbonet. You can also check the links at the 9th Tee website for info on installing a Turbonet.

Oops, it's a DirecTiVo, Philips DSR6000. I'm not too sure what hacks are on it, as I bought it used...is there a way to find out? The software version of the TiVo is 2.5-01-1-001 if that makes a difference.
OK, I found out that I'm using 25xtreme. Is there a way to install the TurboNet card without removing the drives from the TiVo?

Yes. The ease of it depends on the current status of your software. Are you at version 2.5 or 2.5.2? If at 2.5, go to TvioStuff (http://www.tivostuff.com) and get the Superzap upgrade. You can copy this over to the TiVo via serial cable (if you don't have one you will need to make one). And then install it. However, if you pull the drives, it will take about 60 seconds from boot up of your PC to when you can put the drives back into the TiVo. I recommend pulling the drives. It is just so much easier.
