Any suggestions?

Just upgraded yo 2.5.2 yesterday on DSR6000. Cleared guide and ran #60,9 in xplusz. Locals appear but disappear after about 8 hours. Gone from guide, and channel not available. Reboot and they come back. Another 8 hours and they're gone.

Might want to try midupdate.tcl or midupdate2.tcl if you haven't already done so. The "sticky" at the top has all the information you should need to get the locals you subscribe to working on v2.5.2:

Here is midupdate2.zip:

Check out my tutorial for installing 2.5Xtreme and the 2.5.2 upgrade on page 4 of the How Tos Only sticky thread. The best way I've found to get locals to come in and stay put is to reinstall 2.5Xtreme from scratch and then perform the 2.5.2 upgrade. The trick is not to connect the sat inputs until after the 2.5.2 upgrade has been installed. For some reason the locals get hosed if you download the guide data while still in 2.5. If you wait until you have 2.5.2 on the drive the guide data gets downloaded from scratch and locals come in right away without any extra hassle. I've performed this on multiple DTivos and my locals have been around for many months without disappearing.

Well C.V., it looks like option 1 is all I have left. I have done everything several times that i could find in this forum about getting my locals back. They still come and go. After I clear everything with #61 and reboot, my locals come back. Then gone again. I've been working on this for 3 days, read everything in here 12 times, tried it 6 times, and I still dont have my locals. Actually I'm in the LA area so I don't get 3 channels. It's not worth the frustration for 3 channels. I'm ready to get the hammer, the 12lb sledge. This makes no sense why they won't stay on and I'm not pullin my drives.

Midupdate, mvchannels, locals.dat, all of it is here. I've seen a couple diff step by step for locals, and tried all of them. As for now, I am done. Screw the 3 channels, I don't watch em anyway.

In my recent experience, the ONLY things that need to be set properly is the location information on the card and setting the Market ID with midupdate2.tcl. Everything else just screws it up. These two things are the only things you need.

Well the market ID and card are set correctly, turned off addloc and ran #61 to reset mvchannels. Rebooted..........NOTHING!
No locals.

That's because you've already mucked them up. You have to do a "Clear and Delete All" to clear everything out (yes, you have to and yes, it takes a very long time), make sure the market ID is set after that is complete, and then reboot. I've seen this work just fine as I've done it myself. If for some reason it does not work (I cannot imagine why not) then you have no choice but to reload as Cap'n suggested.

Let me try to clarify this a bit. DTV had modified the APG since 2.5. 2.5.2 was made to handle the changes. For a while, after the release of 2.5.2, the changes hadn't gone into effect while the units were being updated. All the old locals stuff still worked. After they felt everyone should be on 2.5.2, they enacted the APG changes, making mvchannels, addloc and getlocals obsolete and no longer functional. Noone has publically updated those utilities to work, or released new ones, as that clearly crosses the line between tivo hacking and DTV hacking. The only functional tool out there is midupdate, and it does nothing but speed up getting the guide data for your subscribed local market. If you use any of the older tools, they will corrupt your lineup, and require a clear and delete to fix it.

Just to clarify before doing this:

If I do a "Clear and delete everything", will I have to re-install the 2.5.2 upgrade?

Or just check the market ID and reboot after the long process?

I think as Juppers just described "If you use any of the older tools, they will corrupt your lineup, and require a clear and delete to fix it." and also as TRILIGHT recommended. That should not require you to re-install the 2.5.2 upgrade.

Well......... tried that. Deleted and cleared everything, took 2 hours. Rebooted, set market id with midupdate2.tcl, rebooted and still no locals. I guess I'm down to one option, pull drives and start all over from scratch.

Hmmm ... I can only say that the same approach has proven to be effective from all I have even seen. As posted above, the only things that need to be set properly is the location information on the card and setting the Market ID with midupdate2.tcl. Are we sure both are correct?

I'm sure they are correct, double checked midupdate2, market is set at 113 for LA, card is set right. Rebooted, channels don't even show up in guide now. Before they always came back after a reboot but wouldnt stay. Now they don't come back at all.
