I have zero experience with wireless networking, so I thought one of you kind folks might be able to help.

I completed Corbellis guide to hacking the HDVR2 (I have two of them now) and it went flawless. Thanks to all those that put time and effort into hacking them.

So..

My Tivo(s) are downstairs in the family room. My computers / cable modem / router /etc.. are upstairs. I don't feel like running Cat5 through my ceilings so I thought that maybe wireless would work to connect the Tivo to the rest of my network.

Can someone tell me what I should do. I really dont have a clue about wireless, other than some of the buzz words. I would like to have the Tivo broadcast via wireless and the PCs upstairs connect via regular Cat5.

Do I need routers, access points, what? Any help would be appreciated. Also, if you could list good/reliable model #s that would be beneficial.

I currently have a Linksys 4 port router upstairs attached to my cable modem and 2 computers.

Thanks!

Jim

After digging into it, I went and bought the Buffalo Tech Air Station G54 and the Ethernet Converter-G. At the moment Im extracting a 1.1g file (West wing) from the Tivo at approximately 1 mb/s.

I tried the Linksys stuff and had very bad results.

I would highly recommend the Buffalo wireless devices. So far they are incredible for me.
