Is there a different place to get the wireless internet capability for series 1 other than 9th tee?

9th tee is the only place where you can get any ethernet capability for the SA1 tivo. There used to be a guy who was supposedly selling cards that were an unauthorized copy of the 9th tee turbonet but he's gone.

9th tee seems expensive but not if you understand econonies of scale in manufacturing. They spent a bunch of money to design and engineer the turbonet adapter. They don't expect to sell them in the millions so they need a higher profit margin if they are to recoup their R&D investment. If they knew that they were going to sell millions of these things then the cost could be lower.

Add to that the fact that they have no competition and feel no pressure to lower the price. All in all, I don't think that $70 is not all that bad a price when you consider how much value it adds to a Tivo series 1. It's cheaper than a 120GB drive.. for now.
